The host announced in a statement that CSA and the ECB decided to postpone the remaining games in the current Betway ODI series.
The decision was taken unanimously by the two boards to ensure the mental and physical health and safety of players from both sides.
The CSA and the ECB will now work together to decide when the ICC Cricket Men's Super League three-match series will take place in the future.
The white-ball leg began with the 3 T20I matches as scheduled, the ODI series couldn't begin last week but as per scheduled. Due to COVID-19 positive cases in both teams and inside the bio-secure hotel in Cape Town, there were 3 delays occurred within four days.
The second ODI match was supposed to begin at 10 am on 7th December, but by 9 am the sides had not reached the ground.
The CSA and the ECB had announced a delayed start, but the decision to abandon the match was made less than half an hour before the first ball.
