all-rounder Kirti Azad

Kirti Azad, former India all-rounder has jumped into Delhi cricket in the position of a prospective state selector.

Under the new president Rohan Jaitley, the new regime at Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) had invited applications for the position of 3 state selectors and coaches. Kirti Azad is among several former cricket players who have applied for the post.

Kirti Azad, a former national selector, went into politics at the cost of cricket. He said that it wasn't that he had no time for cricket, but it kept him occupied with politics. Holding a post at DDCA and not doing justice would not have been fair for him.

Now he is keen on supporting this generation. He added that he is comfortable doing a selector's job. He has the experience and time to watch the youngsters. He mentioned that selection in all age groups has always been a problem at DDCA and he knows this area needs urgent attention.

The candidates' interviews will be conducted by the three-member Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) of Atul Wassan, Parvinder Awana and Robin Singh (Jr). KP Bhaskar, who was the Ranji Trophy team coach two seasons ago when Delhi reached the finals, is among those who applied for the senior selector's role.

Bantu Singh, Ashu Dani, Gursharan Singh and Karun Dubey are the others in the hunt.
