ICC Test Batting Rankings: Virat Kohli 13 points behind top-ranked Steve Smith
Virat Kohli, India skipper has managed to close the gap with the top-ranked Steve Smith in the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings. As per the latest rankings released on Sunday, After the Indian captain's first innings score of 74, which helped him get 2 points, he was able to reduce the gap from 25 points to 13.
On the other hand, Steve Smith lost 10 rating points after failing to do anything with the bat in Adelaide over the innings against India. He was dismissed for 1 in the 1st innings by Ravichandran Ashwin and remained undefeated on the same score in the 2nd innings.
With 592 points, Australian skipper Tim Paine jumped up to 33rd place, his career best result. Tim Paine played a 73-not-out fighting knock and received the man of the match award in the 1st Test match. His previous best result was 45th spot in December of 2018.
In such a low-scoring game, Marnus Labuschagne's innings of 47 & 6 propelled him to a career-best 839 points. Further down, the unbeaten 51 of Joe Burns saw him move to 48th spot, the first time since 2016 he has been in the top 50.
