Shikhar Dhawan has been appointed Delhi’s captain for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021, scheduled to start on 10th January. In the 42 member probables, Speedster Ishant Sharma, who ruled out of the Australia tour due to an injury, was also part of the squad.
Even Unmukt Chand, who had moved to Uttarkhand last season, was brought back to the Delhi team as well.
On Friday, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) senior selection committee appointed a larger squad, taking into consideration the fact that the tournament would be played inside a bio-secure bubble and there would not be much scope for changes later.
After suffering an injury, this will be the first assignment for Ishant Sharma, who missed out on most of the Indian Premier League. Recently, he underwent rehabilitation program at Bengaluru's National Cricket Academy and missed out on India's tour of Australia.
