For the first time in Rishabh Pant career has reached the Top 10 of the ICC Test Rankings for batsmen. The Indian wicket-keeper has climbed to seventh place in the new ICC batting rankings.

With 747 rating points, Indian opener Rohit Sharma is tied for seventh place with Rishabh Pant. Henry Nicholls of New Zealand, by the way, has the same number.

New Zealand cricketer Kane Williamson tops the rankings with 919 rating points. Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne from Australia are behind him, while Joe Root of England and Virat Kohli of India are fourth and fifth.

After scoring his first Test century in the final Test against England, Rishabh Pant went up seven positions. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma moved up one place thanks to his patient 49-run knock in Ahmedabad.

Ben Stokes, Ajinkya Rahane, and Cheteshwar Pujara all slipped down the batting order after uneventful outings in Ahmedabad. Pujara has dropped out of the Top 10, while Rahane and Stokes have dropped one spot to 12th and 13th, respectively.

A few months earlier, Rishabh Pant was not India's first-choice wicket-keeper in Tests. However, during the team's tour of Australia, he won a place in the squad. Pant took the opportunity with both hands, solidifying his position on the team.

So far in 2021, Rishabh Pant has scored 515 runs in six Test matches. Team India qualified for the ICC World Test Championship Final after his knocks in Brisbane and Ahmedabad.

Last year, Pant won the ICC Player of the Month award for the first time. Given his excellent batting performances, it won't be surprising if he cracks the Top 5 of the ICC batting rankings soon.
