impossible run chase

After being roped in by his old team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 3.2 crore at the IPL auction 2021 on Thursday, Bangladesh's all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan returned to the IPL fold.

There was a base price of Rs 2 crore for the two-time IPL winner, who faced a one-year suspension by the ICC. The hard-hitting prowess and the wily left-arm spin of Shakib Al Hasan checked the right boxes for the franchises. The all-rounder previously played for the Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad. There was some bidding war between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Punjab Kings, but in the end, KKR got Shakib on board.

The 2019 season with Sunrisers Hyderabad was Shakib Al Hasan's last appearance in the IPL. He has hit 746 runs with 2 fifties and taken 59 wickets in 63 IPL games.

Abhishek Nayar commented on the return of Shakib Al Hasan, he said that Shakib played for the team, knows the dynamics, and also has captaincy knowledge that they can use. Besides that, Shakib is able to bat higher up in T20s and ODIs, they also want to use him in a similar role. In the Power Plays, he can also bowl, covering up 3 or 4 overseas slots. Abhishek Nayar is happy with the price for which they have got him. They wanted experience and leadership, never a doubt with his performances or ability. Shakib was the champion.
