The second wave of the coronavirus has jolted India once again as we look forward to May. Each day in the last week, more than 3 lakh cases of COVID have been recorded. This unexpected increase has caused many problems for the medical community, struggling to keep up with the demand.

Cricketers have stepped forwards to express their support for humanity by donating money to various causes in this dire and desperate situation. Following in the footsteps of Brett Lee and Pat Cummins, former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar has declared that he has donated to a mission to assist hospitals with the availability of oxygen concentrators.

Tendulkar informed his followers about his contribution with a message on his official Twitter handle. The long and moving message began by discussing that the healthcare system has been under strain in recent days. Following that, the message mentioned Mission Oxygen, a programme started by young entrepreneurs in the country.

Tendulkar then wrote about his contribution but did not specify how much he contributed. He also told his fans that now is the time for everybody to stand together. Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper-batsman Shreevats Goswami also donated INR 90,000 for the oxygen supplies earlier in the day.
