Due to a groin injury, David Warner was ruled out of Australia's next One-Day International and all 3 Twenty20 international matches against India.
In Sunday's series-deciding ODI victory at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the aggressive opening batsman was injured while fielding. David Warner is hoping to recover in time for the Test series, which starts on 17th December in Adelaide, after scores of 69 and 83 in the first two ODI matches.
As a like-for-like left-handed substitute, D'Arcy Short was called into the squad of Australia. In two series in Australia's Twenty20 Big Bash League, D'Arcy Short was the top scorer.
On Monday, Cricket Australia (CA) also confirmed that pace bowler Pat Cummins will be rested for the 3rd ODI match and T20 series, thus he can prepare for the four-match Test series.
Justin Langer, Australia coach said that David Warner and Pat Cummins were critical to their plans for the Test series.
He added that the priority for both is to be fully prepared for one of the largest and most important home test series they have played in recent years, particularly with points of the World Test Championship up for grabs.
